Why Should We Study the Stolen Generation?

Picture

The Stolen Generation should be studied in schools across Australia because it is a significant part of Australia's History, it can not be forgotten and it cannot be removed just as the children of the Stolen Generation were, from their families.

It is important for children to know the history of their country, it should be known and taught in schools across Australia so that todays generation can learn the mistakes of the past and not let them ever happen again.

On the 13th February 2008, the prime-minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd, said 'Sorry' for what happen to the children and families of the Stolen Generation. This was a major step in Australian History that was needed for peace and reconciliation.

We are in the time of reconcilation, and Australian children need to be familiar with that, as they are the next generation to MAKE A CHANGE.
